Our People

The professional staff at Austin Learning Center is comprised of a team of dedicated educators who are experienced in providing individualized tutoring services and educational consulting for grades pre-K through college in all academic subject areas. These tutors are passionate about their mission. The professional team at the Austin Learning Center is committed to students and their progress.


Becky, owner

The owner, Becky Fliss, is devoted to children as shown through her work as a volunteer mentor, fundraising chairperson/volunteer for local schools, science coach, school board member, and CASA volunteer. Becky holds a bachelors degree in Engineering and a Masters degree in Education, both obtained from the University of Texas at Austin. She has been tutoring professionally for over a decade and is an experienced classroom teacher in math, science and computer technology for grades K-12. In addition, she has a long history of involvement in science and math education. She completed a fellowship with the United States Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. where she was exposed to many aspects of science, math, and technology education policy including textbook reform, pre-service teacher training, and increasing opportunities in science for students facing economic hardships. She has received awards for her dedication to teaching to culturally diverse student populations and has served both as a mentor teacher and educational consultant. She has combined all of her classroom and tutoring experience in the development of the Austin Learning Center, a learning community committed to serving students of diverse academic needs. Becky was recognized by Who's Who Among American Teachers.

Tutors at the Austin Learning Center are a team of individuals who are diverse, creative, dedicated, experienced, effective and inspiring. Tutors have a range of academic backgrounds and have accomplishments such as professorships at UT Austin, various advanced degrees, perfect SAT scores, valedictorians of their class, national merit scholars, and more!
